UNMANNED FORMULA 1: DRONE BATTLE IN MOSCOW
Drone Racing Champions CupHD took place in Moscow. The tournament organized by "GLONASS Union, was attended by sportsmen from Russia, Belarus, France, Finland, the United Arab Emirates. The competition was held from November 29 to December 01 at VDNH (The Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy).
Drone Racing Champions CupHD is in many ways a unique event in drone-racing, this young sport. For the first time in Russia was gathered such a number of participants: in the race were registered 63 pilots. 20 top pilots passed to the main competition from the qualifying round.
For the first time in the world video from sport drones was transmitted in digital (HD) quality and with zero delay: viewers watched races live webcast on the big screens in the hall. The course of the race was followed using a large number of parameters to which we are accustomed to on the race "Formula-1": "best lap", "the highest speed in the area", "the best time of turn passage" and many others. The pilots successfully covered one of the best and most difficult tracks. Its length is 320 meters and includes 5 turns, elements "slide" and "tube", speed section for acceleration up to 140 km/h and other unique obstacles.

Unmanned aircraft systems development is a strategic focus of "GLONASS Union". Therefore, our goal is to create necessary conditions for unmanned aircraft development by preparing legislative and regulatory framework, creation of necessary infrastructure and ecosystem services, applications, platform and unmanned aerial vehicles providers. Supporting such a young but promising sport, we first of all make a significant contribution to drone-racing development and popularize the development of unmanned aircraft systems as a whole ", - says Alexander Gurko, President of “GLONASS Union", head of the Working Group on development of unmanned aerial vehicles, aircraft systems and air sports under the President Commission of the Russian Federation on development of general aviation and navigation and information technology-based global navigation satellite system GLONASS.
The Champions Cup prize fund is 2 million rubles: it consisted of a monetary certificate and a gift to pilots. All the top pilots received modern expensive equipment - digital video transmitter, using which pilots can see the track in digital quality and without any interferences, which significantly increases drone maneuverability. In addition, the winners of the competition received special prizes and gifts from the co-organizer of the event - the largest Russian TV provider "Tricolor TV": a set of equipment to watch satellite TV.

The awarding ceremony was conducted by Igor Levitin, Assistant to the President of Russia, Chairman of the the President Commission of the Russian Federation on development of general aviation and navigation and information technology-based global navigation satellite system GLONASS, Alexander Gurko, President of the Non-Commercial Partnership "GLONASS", Alexei Kholodov, Director General of "Tricolor TV" and Boris Glazkov, Director of Strategic innovations center in PJSC "Rostelecom".
Organizer of the event is Non-Commercial Partnership "GLONASS". Co-organizers: Russia's largest digital TV provider "Tricolor TV" and federal mobile operator Yota. General media partner is LIFE, official music partner - Europa Plus TV, special partner - PJSC "Rostelecom".
