GLONASS Union signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a joint venture in India

During his official visit to India the Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a number of agreements aimed at strengthening of the cooperation between two countries. One of them was a Memorandum of Understanding between the GLONASS Union and the Indian company Eirene Systems Private Limited (ESPL).

According to the Memorandum the parties will expand and strengthen cooperation in the joint development of satellite navigation systems and geoinformation systems through joint researches, production and sale of solutions, technologies and products in this area. These activities will lead to the successful implementation of projects to implement navigation and information services based on GLONASS in India. The Russian-Indian joint venture will be established to realize projects using navigation technologies. This organization will be engaged in the production of the equipment and the implementing of navigation and information systems.

The one of expected activities of JV will be deploying of a national navigation platform to provide GLONASS-based navigation and information services to customers. Such projects as "The Safe Bus", the modernization of police forces, solution for the railway transportation, supply chain management system could become foreground. It is also planned to discuss R&D project to create a GLONASS/IRNSS navigation receiver based on 40nm technology.

A large number of users, dynamically growing economy and the development of its high-tech industries are the key conditions for the successful implementation of projects based on navigation technologies. The Indian market will provide a new scope of using of GLONASS technologies and, therefore, the necessary conditions for competitive development, - says GLONASS Union President Alexander Gurko. - Joining of activities, resources and competences of Russian and Indian companies together with a wide support of two friendly countries will allow us to develop, produce and implement navigation solutions. These solutions, equipment and services will use Russian GLONASS as well as Indian IRNSS. First of all, we plan to develop GLONASS/GPS/IRNSS navigation receivers».

Company Eirene Systems Private Limited was established by representatives of business groups of India to participate in the national program «Make in India». The company is involved in several projects for the localization of complex engineering projects in India.
