The regular session of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation was held in New Delhi

On November 5th 2014 in New Delhi was held a regular session of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC) co-chaired by the Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin. The session was attended by GLONASS Union Head of International Projects Alexander Bondarenko.

Following the meeting parties confirmed their interest in the development of joint projects in the utilization of technologies based on satellite navigation. In particular, the Russian and Indian sides called for joint production of chipsets for GLONASS devices.

"The GLONASS Union actively supports plans for cooperation between the two countries in the field of satellite navigation. In late October the Russian and Indian sides have included a proposal for enhanced cooperation in the area of implementation of GLONASS in India in the protocol of the meeting of the India-Russia working group on trade, economic and investment cooperation. Russia has accumulated successful experience in implementing large-scale projects in the field of satellite navigation systems, such as the ERA-GLONASS, and this experience could be used in India," - said Alexander Bondarenko.

"We believe that the production of GLONASS navigation equipment in India has good perspectives, and will assist the implementation of this project. Today at the meeting of IRIGC-TEC Russian side announced a proposal on the establishment of the Russia-India fund with a volume of 1-2.5 billion dollars, which should supports joint projects as the main activity. Projects for the development of production of equipment and chipsets with GLONASS support, implement solutions and building systems using GLONASS could be rapidly realized in the framework of such institution of development, "- he added.
