Russian terminals for emergency calls will be tested in India

On February 26-28th the GLONASS Union participated in the business mission of Russian exporters to promote Russian goods and services to the Indian market, dedicated to the largest engineering exhibition International Engineering and Technology Fair 2015. The business mission was organized by the Ministry of Economic Development, Russian Trade Mission in India, Export Insurance Agency of Russia (EXIAR) with the support of the Confederation of Indian Industry.

During the business mission were held series of meetings of specialists of GLONASS Union with automotive component manufacturers, service providers, and infrastructure and transport companies of India. All of them expressed interest in cooperation with Russia in the field of adoption of technologies based on satellite navigation. There were made agreements to test in India onboard navigation and communication units for vehicle monitoring and emergency services calling devices produced by Russian companies.

Due to the large number of consumers and the fast-growing economy the Indian market is strategically important for the development of GLONASS. The country is actively expanding the scope of the telematics services in which taxis and large commercial companies are very interested.

Also the GLONASS Union specialists considered several potential production sites for the joint Russian-Indian project to develop and manufacture of GLONASS/GPS/IRNSS navigation receiver. Based on these receivers is possible to create market-ready products for various applications such as personal trackers, car terminals, consumer products for different purposes.

In 2015 the GLONASS Union plans to participate in the biggest transport exhibitions in India (India Transport & Logistics and India International Security Expo) to continue cooperation with Indian companies in the field of satellite navigation technology.
