Belarus Prime Minister gets acquainted with ERA-GLONASS system
Last week Non-commercial Partnership GLONASS has presented in Minsk world's first accident-tracking ERA-GLONASS system, which was commissioned in Russia January 1st, 2015. Official delegates headed by Belarusian Prime Minister Andey Kobyakov got acquainted with the ERA-GLONASS system. The demonstration was attended by Sergey Popkov, Belarusian Minister of Communication and Informatization, Aleksandr Shumilin, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology, Dmitry Pinevich, First Deputy Minister of Healthcare, and representatives of military-industrial commission.
The demonstration featured an emergency call from a Belarusian car, which was in Moscow. The car had been equipped with an emergency calling device with a Belarusian mobile operator sim-card. The call was successfully transmitted to ERA-GLONASS system, processed by the call-center operator and transferred to emergency services. This way, Belarusian drivers, whose cars are equipped with emergency calling system, will get help in case of an accident on the territory of the Russian Federation.
The demonstration was carried out as part of the 22nd International specialized exhibition TIBO-2015, taking place along with the 22nd Belarusian congress April 22-25 in Minsk. These annual events are supported by the Ministry of Communication and Informatization of Belarus and are major in the field among the CIS and the Baltic countries.
ERA-GLONASS system is meant for health and life safety during road accidents and other road emergency situations due to less time spent on response from emergency services.
According to the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union "On wheeled vehicles safety" (TR CU 018/2011), more new car models with type approval on the CU territory must be equipped with ERA-GLONASS terminals, and since 2017 these devices will be installed on all new cars within the CU. Belarus and Kazakhstan are planning on establishing similar systems, which could work with ERA-GLONASS. Establishment of compatible emergency accident response will ensure smooth-running, safe movement of vehicles across the Eurasian Union.
ERA-RB project was launched in 2013. So far, the set of navigational equipment has been developed, ERA-RB experimental area has been built in Minsk, and experimental call-center has been created. The issue of establishing the Certification center for navigation and communication equipment based on OJSC "AGAT – Control Systems" (under the competence of State Military Industrial Committee of the Republic of Belarus) is underway.
