RUSSIAN MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT AND "GLONASS UNION" WITH THE SUPPORT OF NOKIA ORGANIZED ROUND TABLE "UNMANNED TRANSPORT SYSTEMS: TECHNOLOGY, REGULATION, ECONOMY” IN THE FRAMEWORK OF “TRANSPORT WEEK - 2016"

Russian Ministry of Transport and "GLONASS Union" held round table "Unmanned transport systems: technology, management, economy" in the framework of "Transport week - 2016". The round table was attended by Alexei Semenov, Director of Programs development department, Russian Ministry of Transport, Alexander Gurko, President of "GLONASS Union", head of the Working Group on development of unmanned aerial vehicles, aircraft systems and air sports under the President Commission of the Russian Federation on development of general aviation and navigation and information technology-based global navigation satellite system GLONASS, Sebastian Babiarz, Head of AMS Drone Nokia Mobile Networks division, and others.

During the business program of the round table the participants discussed issues related to the legal aspects of unmanned vehicles use. However, such vehicles cannot be thoroughly used until such time when legislative level regulations are developed for them. "In the coming years we expect rapid growth of the services and applications market using unmanned aircraft systems all over the world. Unmanned aircraft systems development is a strategic focus of "GLONASS Union". Therefore, our goal is to create the necessary conditions for ALS development due to the formation of the legislative and regulatory framework, creation of the necessary infrastructure and ecosystem services, applications, platform providers and unmanned aerial vehicles vendors. We expect that the barriers would be removed and in the next year or two we’ll see unmanned vehicles movement in Russia", - said “Glonass Union" President Alexander Gurko.
