The interoperability between ERA-GLONASS and 1-1-2 System was successfully tested in Kaluga region

On October 30th the GLONASS Union and the EMERCOM of Russia have successfully completed the test for interoperability between Government Accident Emergency Response System ERA-GLONASS and 1-1-2 Emergency System of Kaluga region. According to results of this test the commission decided to permit the using of ERA-GLONASS with 1-1-2 System in Kaluga region permanently.

Government Accident Emergency Response System ERA-GLONASS utilizes GLONASS technology for enhancing transportation safety and was being created to save lives and mitigate injuries of road traffic accident victims or casualties in other emergencies on Russian roads. The ERA-GLONASS System will reduce emergency services' time-to-arrival by up to 30%, saving up to 4,000 additional human lives every year.

The ERA-GLONASS System will be put into operation since the beginning of 2015. According to the Custom Union Technical Regulation "Wheeled Vehicles Safety" since January 1st 2015 the presence of ERA-GLONASS equipment will required for all new vehicles, which for the first time undergo conformity assessment in the form of type approval. Since January 2016 – for all newly introduced models of intended for passenger transportation,  transport of hazardous cargo and garbage trucks. Since January 2017 it will be required for all categories of newly introduced vehicles intended for sale in the Custom Union territory.
