Russia and China have agreed to harmonize standards and to train of specialists in the field of satellite navigation
Russia and China continue to actively develop of their cooperation and make new steps for collaboration in the field of navigation technologies. January 27-28 in Beijing held a meeting of technical experts on the Russian-Chinese cooperation in the field of satellite navigation.
The meeting was attended by all the leading agencies and organizations in the field of satellite navigation of two countries, including GLONASS Union, Russian Federal Space Agency, JSC "Russian Space Systems", JSC "Academician M. F. Reshetnev" Information Satellite Systems", TSNIIMASH, Association "GLONASS/GNSS-Forum", MIIGAiK, China Satellite Navigation Office, China Satellite Navigation Engineering Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China North Industries Corporation, UniStrong and others. The meeting discussed issues of compatibility and interoperability of GLONASS and BeiDou, augmentations, GNSS-monitoring and implementation of navigation technologies.
The GLONASS Union headed the Russian subgroup on cooperation in the field of using of navigation technologies, following a meeting of subgroup had been made a number of strategic agreements.
The work on the harmonization of technical standards for navigation and information systems based on GLONASS and BeiDou in joint trans-border projects, such as Chinese analogue of ERA-GLONASS, will start soon. Harmonization of standards will provide big opportunities for joint projects in the field of commercial navigation and control of road, air and water transportations.
Also the main areas of cooperation include the development of microelectronics and the creation of GLONASS/BeiDou navigation receivers. Based on these receivers, it will allow to produce ready-made products for various applications such as personal trackers, car terminals and consumer products for different purposes.
Parties also agreed on the joint development of high-precision navigation technologies to provide the security of gas, oil and water pipelines, dispatching of ground, river and air vehicles, geodetic support of the agriculture, cartography and other areas.
A big attention was paid to education and special training for GLONASS/BeiDou technologies. Russia and China will combine their expertise in the field of satellite navigation and develop teaching methods, programs of training and advanced training. The experience of the two countries will bring the cooperation in the field of navigation technology to a new level and will help to the global development of satellite systems.
"This meeting is an important continuation of a series of Russian-Chinese agreements reached by GLONASS Union in 2014" - says GLONASS Union Vice-president Eugene Belyanko. "- The purpose of our cooperation with colleagues from China is a scaling of the market for the benefit of users. We want to provide transportation security systems throughout the duration of Europe-China transport corridor. This will ensure, on the one hand, a security for users and a huge market for the technologies and services on the other hand, which will keep a long-term development of GLONASS and BeiDou".
