RUSSIA WILL CREATE A NEW EMERGENCY RESPONSE SYSTEM

In November 2019, the President of GLONASS UNION Alexander Gurko shared with RBC, that non-profit partnership GLONASS UNION offered “Roscosmos” to create an emergency communication system under the prototype name Save+.

It can serve as a search and rescue system and inform emergency response services, as well as work as an alert system, Gurko said. The principle of operation of Save+ will be as follows: The user's device will be equipped with an alarm button, when pressed, the Save+ operator will receive a signal that it can transmit to the emergency response service, volunteers or medical organizations. Under certain settings, you do not need to press the button to send a signal, for example, it can be transmitted by itself when the device owner's pressure rises to a critical level.

Gurko reminded that Russia already has a similar system based on GSM mobile communication technology (ERA-GLONASS), but it is used primarily for assistance in road accidents. "Our goal is to create a competitive service based on the use of satellite navigation and communication technologies with global coverage," the President of GLONASS UNION said.
