GLONASS UNION AND MINISTRY OF INDUSTRY AND TRADE OF RUSSIA MODERNIZING AUTOMOBILE POLYGON IN NAMI

A testing ground for testing unmanned vehicles is planned to be set up in Dmitrov near Moscow, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, GLONASS UNION and NAMI will be engaged in the project, the Autonet press service told RIA Novosti.

The project can be carried out at the  site for testing vehicles set up by NAMI on testing grounds in Dmitrov, equipped with intelligent control systems. It includes sections of straight-line traffic, turns, intersections, ring intersection, U-turns, as well as all necessary related elements - road barriers, pedestrian crossings, railway crossing, imitations of bridge structures , etc.

"The modernization of the existing testing ground will allow creating a unique center for the complete test cycle, refinement and certification of vehicles with a high degree of automation, which in turn will allow developing test procedures for unmanned vehicles on public roads and safety standards for admission of ‘ smart’transport to participate in road traffic ", - the words of the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Alexander Morozov, are quoted in the message.

"Currently, Russia lacks the necessary infrastructure, including specialized test areas to organize a full-cycle test for connected and unmanned cars. Experience of other countries demonstrates the need for technology testing at test sites  recreating a full-fledged traffic ecosystem before such cars are admitted to roads of general use, "- said the president of GLONASS UNION Alexander Gurko.
